SANTEE (CBS 8) – A driver is in custody Wednesday morning, after leading the California Highway Patrol on a wild high-speed chase that ended with a crash on the I-15 ramp from SR-52 Tuesday night.
The driver of a red two-door Pontiac failed to stop for officer's who were conducting a speed enforcement detail around 8:55 p.m. near the 125 freeway.
He lead officers down Mission Gorge Road and through Santee at speeds topping 100 mph. According to police radio traffic, the driver turned his headlights off at one point.
The suspect lost control of his car on the ramp from westbound SR-52 to the southbound I-15. He rolled over his car and was treated by medics at the scene for minor injuries and then arrested.
Nobody else was injured in the wreck. There is no word on the driver's identity.
