SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A fire broke out Wednesday in the kitchen of a La Jolla apartment, activating the building's sprinklers and resulting in around $135,000 in damage, fire officials said.
The sprinklers put the fire out before firefighters reached the four-story building at 7689 Palmilla Drive around 12:30 a.m., a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department dispatcher said.
Most of the $100,000 in property damage and the $35,000 in damage to the contents was caused by water from the building's sprinklers, the dispatcher said.
Five adults and a child were displaced, he said.
