Hundreds of kids take part in "Shop With A Cop" event

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Saturday marked the return of a holiday tradition that always puts a smile on needy children's faces.

The "Shop With A Cop" event took place at the Target store near the Sports Arena. More than 300 children took part in Saturday's event.

Before arriving at the Target store with a police escort, the kids enjoyed a special breakfast and private animal show at SeaWorld.

Once they got to Target, the kids, with the help of local police officers, picked up $100-worth of toys, clothes and other merchandise.

The "Shop With A Cop" event has been a local tradition for the past 19 years.
