Ricochet takes command from iPad to help people

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Putting technology to good use, a groundbreaking new app is helping people with verbal disabilities to communicate, and they did just that with San Diego's own surf dog.

Ricochet is a famous local therapy dog. Now she's taking commands given through the Touch Chat app. The program is being run by a speech therapist from the Poway Unified School District.

It's hoped other therapy dogs can learn to do this as well, opening up a whole new world for non-verbal adults.
