Dog stolen from downtown business reunited with owner

Big money is on the table to find the thief who stole a French bulldog from a downtown office building.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The owners of a dog that was stolen from a downtown business were reunited with their pet Wednesday.

The French bulldog, named Mozzy, was found Tuesday night, after being taken from a loan office on Front Street Monday. Surveillance video showed a woman coaxing him from the office's employee entrance, then driving away. Hours later, someone recognized the dog and called police.

Mozzy's owner, Jill Gelinas, told News 8 she was worried sick:

"It's my baby, it's like my child. It's like someone kidnapping your child, in a sense."

Sandro Fernandez is the good Samaritan who spotted Mozzy being carried by the suspect in a store shortly after our story aired. He and says he was just happy to help.

"It just feels good. I've lost a dog before and it was never found. To find your dog, it must feel nice," he said.

Police arrested the suspected dog-napper at the scene. She was identified as Dyan Chavez, 23. She's now facing burglary and grand theft charges.

The owners plan to make good on the $5,000 reward they had offered for their pet's safe return.
