Workshare, a leading provider of secure enterprise applications, has been recognized as an exceptional provider of customer service by International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) member firms in the 2012 ILTA/InsideLegal Technology Purchasing Survey. This is the second consecutive year the annual survey has presented Workshare with this honor.
The commendation for Workshare’s exceptional customer service comes soon after the company announced the appointment of Michael Ollitervo-Murphy as its Chief Customer Officer. Ollitervo-Murphy is responsible for building on Workshare’s commitment to customer service and enhancing customer experience.
The 2012 survey was distributed to approximately 697 mid to large firms employing 50 to 4,200 attorneys. The survey details IT purchasing patterns and technology decision making and influences. Additionally, it focuses on cloud computing and the use of tablets in law offices and how this will affect future purchasing policies, as well as security concerns.
This year the survey found that the Bring Your Own Device culture (BYOD) is increasingly prevalent amongst law firms. Today an overwhelming majority of law firms (78%) allow employees to purchase their own laptops, tablets, and / or phones, with 66% of respondents indicating they are purchasing iPads as their tablet of choice. The survey also indicated that the adoption of cloud computing is a major consideration for law firms with 32% of firms indicating they are currently using or implementing a cloud computing solution, while another 38% are actively researching it.
Anthony Foy, CEO Workshare commented, “There’s a strong connection between the increasing prevalence of BYOD in the legal environment and the overall interest in cloud computing in the legal sector. If you want to effectively manage BYOD’s security, accessibility, IP protection and backup issues, you need to have a plan in place. With Workshare, organizations can now apply the same metadata cleaning, data policy enforcement and collaboration they have implemented to the desktop infrastructure to the cloud and mobile devices – extending their secure collaborative ecosystem beyond the firewall.”
The survey shows that law firms are ready for the latest cloud-enabled collaboration solutions that foster BYOD initiatives in the legal sector. However, the survey also shows that there’s a desire for a balance between deploying new technology, compliance and IP protection. Workshare allows administrators to enforce company policy through its data policy engine that cleans hidden metadata, based on the predefined settings that control what can be shared and what recipients can do with the documents once shared via email, in the cloud or mobile device or tablet.
Over 18,000 organizations rely on Workshare including 98% of AmLaw 200 law firms and 62% of Fortune 1000 legal departments.
