Navy airmen hospitalized after hard landing

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Navy officials are conducting an investigation after a hard landing at North Island that sent four people to the hospital.

NAS North Island personnel were conducting routine helicopter training Wednesday night, when something went wrong.

The aircraft descended quickly and hit the ground with more force than usual.

Two people were taken to UCSD Medical Center. The other two were taken to Scripps Mercy.

The extent of their injuries has not been released.
