Pedestrians injured in drunk driving hit-and-run

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A man is seriously injured after being hit by a drunk driver in Pacific Beach overnight.

A man and woman were walking in the crosswalk when they were hit by a car just after midnight.

The man slammed into the windshield and suffered a major head injury. The woman was also hit, but not seriously hurt.

Several witnesses saw the accident and told police the driver took off down Garnet Avenue. He was later arrested at Cass Street and Emerald Street.

He now faces felony DUI and hit-and-run charges.
