World War II vet's medals stolen from Vista home

VISTA, Calif. (AP) - A wounded World War II veteran says someone stole his Purple Heart and other medals from his San Diego County home.

Eighty-eight-year-old Clyde Kellogg tells U-T San Diego that eight honors, including a Bronze Star and riflery medals, were stolen from the wall of an enclosed patio at his Vista home. He noticed them missing last Friday.

The patio door was locked but authorities say there were signs of a forced entry.

Kellogg was in the Marines when he was shot in the throat during the Battle of Guadalcanal and spent a year in various hospitals.

Kellogg says the theft has stolen a part of his life.
