UCSD student killed in Alpine crash was driving drunk

A UCSD student struck and killed by an alleged drunk driver in Alpine was also legally drunk at the time of the collision.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A UCSD student struck and killed by an alleged drunk driver in Alpine was also legally drunk at the time of the collision.

The autopsy report for 25-year-old Angela August was released Thursday. It showed August had a blood alcohol level one and a half times the legal limit 0.12.

She lost control of her vehicle and rolled it on Interstate 8 at 3 a.m. on June 11th.

A short time later, a good samaritan, 59-year-old Jimmy Arevalo, who had not been drinking, stopped on the freeway to help.

That's when prosecutors say, another drunk driver, 30-year-old Sunny Hall, crashed into Arevalo and August killing both of them.

Hall's blood alcohol level was nearly two times the legal limit. She is facing vehicular manslaughter and DUI charges. Hall is out of jail on $350,000 bail.
