LEMON GROVE (CNS) - An investigation was under way Wednesday into a Christmas night shooting in Lemon Grove in which a woman and her 10-year-old son were fired upon but not injured.
It happened as the woman was driving her vehicle southbound in the 1600 block of Glencoe Drive at approximately 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday, according to San Diego County sheriff's Sgt. James Blanton.
As she passed a slower moving vehicle, the woman heard a loud pop followed by the sound of a passenger-side window shattering, the sergeant said in a statement.
Her son was sitting in the passenger seat at the time but was not injured, Blanton said, noting that the woman also was uninjured.
"Fearing for her and her son's safety, she continued to drive southbound into the city of San Diego," Blanton said. "She continued until she located a San Diego police officer, whom she contacted and informed ... about the incident."
A bullet hole was found in the woman's vehicle. She described the apparent shooter's vehicle as a white two-door coupe, according to Blanton.
The motive for the shooting was under investigation.
Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call the Lemon Grove sheriff's substation at (619) 337-2000.
