SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The famous kissing statue that was removed from the Embarcadero is being replaced with a replica.
A section near the USS Midway Museum is now being remodeled to accommodate the 25-foot statue. It will be showcased in a plaza with benches, landscaping and Japanese friendship cherry trees like the ones seen in Washington, D.C.
The project cost $1 million, and was funded by donations.
The big reveal is set for February 16.
