LEMON GROVE (CNS) - Deputies driving through an East County neighborhood early Thursday came across an apparent homicide victim dying from a wound to her head on the side of a road, authorities said.
The patrol personnel spotted 30-year-old Jennifer Krajnak lying in front of an apartment complex at Olive Street and Pacific Avenue in Lemon Grove about 2 a.m., according to sheriff's officials. Medics took her to Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, homicide Lt. Glenn Giannantonio said.
The lieutenant declined to discuss the nature of the wound suffered by Krajnak, who was conscious when the deputies found her. Investigators discovered a shell casing nearby, but it was not immediately clear if the spent ammunition had anything to do with the apparent slaying, Giannantonio said.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to contact homicide investigators at (858) 974-2321, or San Diego Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
