Water main break shuts down Point Loma street

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A water main break in Point Loma caused big problems Thursday, with crews on the scene for hours.

The main broke just before 12:30 p.m. at Golden Park Avenue and Harbor View Drive.

Crews were able to shut the water off fairly quickly, but not before hundreds of gallons of water gushed out from underground and running down the street.

"When it first broke, if you stood over on this, you could actually feel the vibrations of the water main broken. It was powerful," resident Jack Driscoll said.

The main break left about 36 customers without water through Thursday evening. Service was expected to be restored by 9:30 p.m.
