Driver arrested, officer injured after high speed pursuit

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A CHP officer is in the hospital, and a driver behind bars after leading police on a wild chase.

It all started around 2:00 a.m. Monday in Coronado and ended with a manhunt near Chula Vista.

The suspect raced down Interstate 5 with speeds reaching over 100 mile per hour. Moments later, the suspect crashed out near the 54 and began running down the freeway.

At least one patrol car was also involved in the crash.

The man was finally taken into custody around 2:45 a.m.
