City opens emergency shelter during severe cold snap

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - San Diego is feeling the freeze this weekend. Temperatures are expected to be the coldest of the season yet.

The cold weather prompted Saint Vincent de Paul and Father Joe's Villages to team up to open an emergency winter shelter downtown.

The shelter has almost 170 beds, and organizers say they will do everything in their power not to turn anyone away.

The shelter will stay open through Monday.
