Coaster service from Oceanside to San Diego canceled until Monday

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Trains are not scheduled to run between Oceanside and San Diego Saturday or Sunday because of construction work in Del Mar.

Demolition work on the Torrey Pines Bridge is the cause of the service shutdown, according to the San Diego Association of Governments, North County Transit District and Amtrak.

The NCTD will not run any Coaster trains until Monday at 5 a.m. Public transportation users can use bus Route 101 instead.

Amtrak has canceled three trains in both directions each day. The other nine or 10 runs will terminate at Oceanside.

Amtrak said it will offer bus service between Oceanside, Solana Beach and the downtown San Diego train station. The agency warned that the alternate bus service will not stop at the Old Town Transit Center.

Normal service is scheduled to resume on Monday.
