Microchipping your pet can make the difference between getting it home safe and losing it forever.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Getting a pet microchipped can make the difference between getting it home safely and losing it forever.

Sunday, the County Department of Animal Services offered microchips, dog licenses and rabies vaccinations.

Animal services will microchip your pets for a one-time fee of $20, including registration.

The microchip can offer owners piece of mind in case the collar fails.
