Emergency shelter opens to help keep San Diegans warm

The cold weather has brought about problems for a lot of San Diegans but none more than our city's homeless.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The cold weather has brought about problems for a lot of San Diegans but none more than our city's homeless.

Because of the freezing temperatures there has been an emergency shelter opened. The shelter is funded by the San Diego Housing Commission and run by St. Vincent de Paul Village.

They say their mission is "neighbors helping neighbors."

The shelter also gives residents hot meals in addition to a warm bed to sleep in. The emergency shelter is expected to stay open through Monday.
