Man shot by police in El Cajon

EL CAJON (CNS) - A patrolman shot a man at an East County used-car lot Friday, leaving him hospitalized, authorities said.

The officer-involved shooting in the 1300 block of East Main Street in El Cajon was reported about 9:30 a.m., according to police.

Medics took the wounded man to a hospital for treatment of wounds of undisclosed severity.

According to reports, the man apparently refused to comply with police orders and reached inside his pockets just before an officer opened fire.

It was not immediately clear what led to the confrontation.
