Pedestrian fatally struck by freight train in Oceanside ID'd
OCEANSIDE (CNS) - The pedestrian who was struck and killed by a freight train at an Oceanside crossing was publicly identified by the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office Sunday as a 29-year-old Oceanside man.
Jason Alan Frank was hit shortly before 10 p.m. Friday by a northbound BNSF train at a crossing at Mission Avenue near North Cleveland Street. He was thrown a short distance into a dirt gully along the tracks, sheriff's officials and the Medical Examiner's Office reported.
Emergency personnel were called and despite resuscitative efforts, Frank died at the scene, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.

OCEANSIDE (CNS) - Authorities are trying to determine the identity of a man who was struck and killed by a freight train in Oceanside.
The man was hit at 10 p.m. by a northbound BNSF train at a crossing at Mission Avenue near Cleveland Street and was pronounced dead at the scene, said San Diego sheriff's Lt. Kevin Menzies.
His identification would be determined by the county coroner's office, he said.
