SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A San Diego police officer is recovering after being attacked by an out of control suspect overnight.
Tuesday around 11:30 p.m., a father was driving with his 21-year-old son. The son began fighting with his father behind the wheel and the man pulled off the freeway where Interstate 5 intersects with Clairemont Drive.
A passing officer stopped to help thinking there was a traffic accident. That's when the 21-year-old began fighting with the officer and cut his hand.
The officer was treated at the scene and will likely need a few stitches. As for the suspect, he was restrained, arrested and taken to a local hospital.
