Armed suspect sought for ATM robbery series

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The sheriff's department is asking for your help to identify a man wanted in connection with a series of armed ATM robberies.

On January 16, deputies say the man robbed a victim at a Mission Federal Credit Union ATM on Town Center Parkway in Santee.

On Monday, deputies say he tried to rob a woman at the same ATM, but she was able to get away. It appears the robber targets his victims when the banks are closed.

"It appears he struck during the night hours. The first one happened around 11 p.m., the second one happened around 1 p.m. Monday, but the banks were closed and the parking lot empty," Sgt. Scott Enyeart said. "This type of person should be considered armed and dangerous."

Deputies say a man fitting the same description struck again at a Wells Fargo ATM on Jamacha Road in El Cajon.

Authorities say if you see this man, call 911. Do not approach him. You can also call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
