CrimeFighters Alert: Search for groping suspect underway

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Police are on the lookout Thursday for a groping suspect in the Otay Mesa area.

The suspect is wanted in two separate occurrences that happened only minutes apart during which a 13-year-old girl and 17-year-old girl both reported being grabbed while they were walking down the street.

The younger girl was walking in the 1400 block of Piedra Street about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday when the suspect allegedly grabbed her from behind and groped her, according to San Diego police. Authorities continued to explain that the girl screamed and fought off her attacker, who then ran toward Arruza Street and Picador Boulevard.

Then, the suspect allegedly grabbed and groped a 17-year-old girl walking in the area of Arruza Street and Del Sur Boulevard, but let the teen go when she began to struggle, police added.

The suspect is described as a clean-shaven Hispanic male, 18 to 23 years-old, standing about 5'6" with a normal build. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and glasses.

The suspect was last seen getting into an older, possibly four-door beige sedan and driving south on Del Sur Boulevard.

The San Diego Police Department's Child Abuse Unit is investigating both cases. If you see anything suspicious or have any information in either case, you're asked to contact police.
