OCEANSIDE (CBS 8) - A house goes up in flames in Oceanside, injuring a firefighter battling the blaze.

Smoke and flames spread throughout a home in the 100 block of Frontier Drive just after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. Firefighters quickly had the flames under control once they arrived.

Crews said a woman in the home, who suffered minor burns, was able to escape.

"There was a dog and a cat. We were unable to locate the cat, but the resident's dog got out when she got out," said Battalion Chief Joe Ward with the Oceanside Fire Department.

The woman was treated at the scene by paramedics and then released to friends and family.

A firefighter sustained first and second degree burns to his shoulder and arms and was treated at Tri-City Medical Center. He has since been released.

The cause of the fire, which caused serious damage, is under investigation.
