SAN YSIDRO (CNS) - Four motorists were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and five vehicles were impounded during an overnight DUI checkpoint in San Ysidro, a police officer said Sunday.
The checkpoint in the 600 block of East San Ysidro Boulevard began at 10:53 p.m. Saturday and concluded at 3:57 a.m. Sunday, said San Diego police officer Mark McCullough.
McCullough said 278 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, with 273 of those vehicles being screened by officers.
A pedestrian was found dead on Interstate 5 around 2 a.m. Saturday morning. California Highway Patrol say a car struck and killed the man, leaving him to die in the freeway.
