San Diego County gasoline price nears $4

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose 3.4 cents Sunday to $3.981, its highest amount since Nov. 4.

The average price has risen eight of the past nine days, rising 27 cents over that span, including 6.2 cents on Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 25.4 cents more than one week ago, 35.4 cents higher than one month ago and 19.2 cents greater than one year ago.

The increasing prices are the result of high oil prices, Middle East tension, maintenance at refineries that reduces supplies and investors shifting their money into the gasoline market "earlier and earlier," according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
