Motorcyclist hurt after hitting car during chase

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A motorcyclist is in the hospital after a high speed chase ended in a crash Tuesday.

It started at around 8 a.m. on SR-94 in Spring Valley. California Highway Patrol officers were already stopping someone when a motorcycle flew by.

The officer flagged the motorcyclist to stop, but he took off instead. Officers chased the motorcycle to Rancho San Diego, where he hit a patrol car.

"The suspect applies the brakes of the motorcycle and was unable to stop before striking the front of the patrol car," Sgt. Phil Jones said.

The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. His condition has not been released.

There was no word on what charges he may be facing.
