Police investigate deadly shooting in Mountain View

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man was found fatally wounded in the 900 block of South 45th Street, a San Diego police lieutenant said Sunday.

The shooting was reported at 11:11 p.m. Saturday, said Homicide Lt. Jorge Duran.

"The victim was suffering from at least one gunshot wound and was not responsive," Duran said. "Officers began CPR and were relieved by paramedics. Despite medical intervention efforts, the male died at the scene."

The initial investigation revealed the victim was standing on the west curb when he was approached by two men on foot, the lieutenant said. "After a brief conversation one of the males shot the victim and both males ran south on 45th Street."

The victim's name was not released pending notification of relatives, Duran said.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact homicide detectives at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
