SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A man accused of fatally shooting a woman as she walked home from a Lemon Grove bar pleaded not guilty Wednesday.
Casey Tschida is charged with murder in the death of 30-year-old Jennifer Krajnak. Krajnak's body was found alongside a roadway on January 3.
Authorities say the two were at the same bar earlier in the night. According to investigators, Tschida left, then waited outside for Krajnak. When she started walking home, he shot her in the head.
"According to sheriff's investigators, there was no relationship other than acquaintances. Apparently they had seen each other socially once, but there was no ongoing relationship," Deputy District Attorney Gordon Paul Davis said.
Tschida was arrested at his mother's house in Oregon. Investigators say he fled there after the shooting.
He's being held on $5 million bail.
