CAMP PENDLETON (CBS 8) - The USO Caregivers Conference was held at Camp Pendleton Monday for the first time.
More than 100 caregivers, wounded servicemen and servicewomen and military medical personnel attended the event. It's aimed at helping wounded, ill and injured troops and those who care for them tackle the tough issues they face.
The USO understands that life after the battlefield is often challenging and painful for wounded warriors as well as the family members who care for them.
"The over arching message is thank you. It's a thank you from the American people for what they do for us and their loved ones day in and day out," a participant said.
Monday's event is one of more than 200 others the USO is holding across the country.
