SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Firefighters performed a delicate rescue operation Wednesday to free a woman trapped in a car after it crashed into a light pole.
The crash was reported just before 2 p.m. on southbound Interstate 5 near Carmel Valley Road.
The car ended up on its side against the pole, with the driver's legs trapped under the dash. Firefighters had to hold the car steady and cut part of the roof off to get her out.
She was taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital with serious injuries.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a silver van may have cut her off and caused her to lose control of her vehicle.
