SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A large amount of meth is off the streets after a drug bust near City Heights overnight.
Sixteen people were in custody, as police searched a home in the 3300 block of Cherokee Avenue. SWAT officers surrounded the home until it was cleared of suspects and weapons. Authorities also discovered a suspicious device thought to be a pipe bomb. After further investigation, the device was determined to be harmless.
Investigators say a drug dealing operation fell like a house of cards.
"We've made a number of arrests recently each with those arrests, suspects that were in possession of a pretty good size quantities of illegal drugs and they led us to the address that we're searching right now," said Lt. Ken Hubbs with San Diego Police.
The suspects surrendered peacefully.
Police have not said how much meth they've found or how much it's worth.
