SeaWorld crew rescues beached sea lion pup

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A rough start to the morning for a sea lion pup found on Pacific Beach. A passerby on the boardwalk spotted the little guy between a trash can and the wall.

SeaWorld says he is malnourished and a little dehydrated. He also has a small cut on his left eye.

"When they look like they've been crying, that 's a good sign. that means they are hydrated," said Rescue Animal Care Specialist Heather Ruce. "He's got some wounds as well so we will figure out what's wrong him, treat him, and then we will probably return him to the wild."

SeaWorld says this is the time of year they rescue the most stranded pups, they picked up seven Friday and another three before 9 a.m. Saturday.
