SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Rescue crews pried a woman from mangled wreckage after a crash near the border early Thursday morning.

The California Highway Patrol began receiving calls about a driver traveling the wrong way on Interstate 805 just after 1:00 a.m.

The woman behind the wheel made it to the border, where she crashed into a construction site near the San Ysidro border crossing, pinning herself inside the car.

Fire crews had to use the Jaws of Life to free her legs from under the dashboard. She was transported to a local hospital with what the CHP described as major injuries.

As of this report, there is no word on her condition and her name hasn't been released.

The CHP reports that alcohol was a factor.
