(CBS 8) - California drinkers may soon be allowed to let the good times roll a little longer.
A bill proposed in the state senate wants to extend last call by one hour. The change would allow bars to continue serving alcohol until 4 a.m. and the legislation allows individual cities to set their own rules.
Supporters in San Francisco say the bill is good for business.
"It could also pump lots of money into the local economy. The San Francisco Controller's Office last year came out with a report last year that said $4.2 billion was pumped into the San Francisco economy from the nightlife economy directly," said Alix Rosenthal with the CA Music and Culture Association
A similar law was proposed in 2004, but didn't clear the state assembly.
