ESCONDIDO (CNS) - The San Diego Zoo Safari Park is scheduled to open its annual Butterfly Jungle Saturday morning and usher in longer hours.

The Hidden Jungle Aviary, which runs for three weeks, contains thousands of butterflies from 30 species, including the zebra longwing, orange-barred tiger, Grecian shoemaker, monarch, giant swallowtail and blue morpho.

Visitors will be given a card to help them identify each species. The butterflies on exhibit are native to Africa, Asia, and Central and South America.

Since insects are attracted to bright colors, park officials encourage guests to wear colorful clothing. While it's OK for the butterflies to land on guests, visitors should not touch them.

The Safari Park's biggest annual event is scheduled to run through April 7.

The park's Spring Break hours run from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
