SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A suspected DUI driver and his passenger were taken into custody after a late night police chase through San Diego's east county.

The pursuit started in Alpine, around 11 p.m. Saturday when Sheriff's Deputies tried to pull over the driver of a white Ford Mustang on a local road.

The driver led deputies down Interstate 8, westbound, before finally coming to a stop in El Cajon, after hitting a spike strip, and blowing all four tires.
