Mother finds new way to honor murdered son

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The mother of a slain local boy has a new way to keep her son alive.

Jonathon Sellers and his friend Charlie Keever were murdered two decades ago in Palm City.

Seller's mother has opened Milena's Thrift and Boutique in Fallbrook. All proceeds benefit the Jonathon Sellers and Charlie Keever Foundation.

She says the store helps ensure that the boys didn't die in vain.

"As ugly as it was, we don't want people to think of that ugliness, we want them to think, because of that, look at what we have today, " she said.

The foundation's mission is to build awareness about child safety.

Milena Phillips hopes to launch safety education programs in schools throughout the county.
