HMO report cards now available on mobile apps

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - You now have a new way to measure how well your healthcare provider rates among others in California.

The State Office of the Patient Advocate released its annual report cards of HMOs, PPOs and medical groups.

For the first time, the ratings about how services are provided and performed are available on a mobile app for the iPhone and iPad.

"It helps people understand how to maneuver through the system, how well their HMOs are doing in different disease groups, what kind of care is their care quality," Liz Helms of the Calif. Chronic Care Coalition said.

The apps can be downloaded through iTunes.

This year's report cards show providers are improving the quality of children's health.
