JULIAN (CBS 8) - Two people were in custody Thursday in connection with the shooting of a man who was discovered on the side of a road in Julian, sheriff's officials said.
The passer-by found the 34-year-old victim in the area of Banner Road and Apple Lane shortly before 9 a.m., and drove him to a nearby fire station, sheriff's Lt. Mike Munsey said.
Medics airlifted the victim, who reportedly had suffered a gunshot wound to the neck, to Palomar Medical center. He was expected to recover.
Later Thursday, deputies arrested Jeffrey Roberson, 47, and Jennifer Minor, 40, at a residence in the 35600 block of SR-78. Roberson was booked on one charge of attempted murder; Minor faces a conspiracy charge.
It was unclear what prompted the
gunfire, the sergeant said. The victim apparently knew the suspects and had
visited them at their trailer in the past, according to Sgt. Tom Poulin.
Following the shooting, the wounded
man, whose name was not released, walked more than a mile before collapsing. It
appeared that a single round from a small-caliber gun had passed through his
left arm before lodging in his neck, Poulin said. The gun that fired the shot
was not immediately recovered.
