ESCONDIDO (CNS) - A man was wounded in a shooting in Escondido, but was expected to survive, police said Saturday.
The victim was shot in the back of his head shortly after 11 p.m. Friday in the vicinity of East Ohio Avenue and North Cedar Street, Escondido police Sgt. Scott Walters said. He was taken to a hospital, and his injury was described by police as not life-threatening.
Information on the suspect was not immediately available.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled Tuesday for a former San Diego police officer accused of groping four women during pat-down searches last year.
Chula Vista police will be looking for drivers talking or texting on cell phones Tuesday and through the end of the month as part of "Distracting Driving Awareness Month."
