Suspects lead police on high speed chase in stolen car

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Two suspects are in custody after a high speed chase in a stolen car ended with a crash and a power outage.

The pursuit began overnight when officers tried to pull over a stolen Toyota, but the suspects drove off.

The chase made it's way into National City, where suspects crashed into another car but kept going.

Witnesses say the chase flew by at more than 100 miles an hour.

"We were just standing down there and the next thing you know a car comes speeding, motorcycle cop coming right after it. That was crazy," said a witness.

Moments later, the suspects lost control of the stolen car and slammed into a power pole, knocking out service to nearly 1500 homes.

The suspects bailed out of the wreck and took off running.

Both were arrested, and now face several charges.
