Free smartphone app delivers air quality information

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The County of San Diego has teamed up with the state's Air Resources Board to launch a new, free smartphone app that delivers real-time air quality information.

Breathe Well will give users information on ozone levels and fine particle pollution.

Exposure to pollution can reduce lung function, especially for people with conditions like asthma.

"It lets the public know what is really going on. We've got these multiple monitoring stations throughout San Diego County and it will tune to the one closest to your home," said County Supervisor Ron Roberts.

Users will also be able to access air quality information from several cities throughout California.
