Chargers announce preseason schedule

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego Chargers announced Friday they will open preseason play by playing host to the Seattle Seahawks at Qualcomm Stadium and conclude the preseason with a home game against the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers.

Dates for both games will be announced later. The Seahawks game will be played between Aug. 8-11 and the 49ers game Aug. 29 or Aug. 30.

The Chargers will play road preseason games against the Chicago Bears Aug. 15, which will be televised by ESPN, and the Arizona Cardinals between Aug. 22-25.

"This preseason is going to be a great test for our football team and it's exciting for our fans," Chargers coach Mike McCoy said.

"To be able to compete against two playoff teams at home will help us in our preparation for the season. It will also be good experience for us to play two outstanding teams on the road, including a game on national TV. Overall the preseason will be a good opportunity for us to get ready for the regular season."
