ESCONDIDO (CBS 8) - Dozens of homes in Escondido are still in the dark Wednesday morning, after a hit-and-run driver knocked out power and injured a woman.

Investigators say the suspect was driving a red pick-up truck around 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, when he slammed into the back of another car on North Broadway near Leslie Lane. He reportedly tried to drive away, but crashed into a power pole and then took off running.

Dozens of homes lost power, and the driver in the other car was treated for injuries at the scene.

As of this report, police are still searching for the suspect.

Power was expected to be restored around 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, according to SDG&E.
