Fallen troops remembered at Camp Pendleton

Posted: Updated:

CAMP PENDLETON (CBS 8) - The First Marine Expeditionary Force Thursday remembered the lives of all coalition partners who were killed during the command's yearlong deployment.

Some family members of those who died in battle attended Thursday's memorial ceremony. Among them was the father of Navy Petty Officer Second Class Clayton Beauchamp. The corpsman died last August after he stepped on an IED while on foot patrol in Afghanistan.

Jack Beauchamp says memorials like Thursday's are a reminder that his son did not die in vain.

"You do a funeral and you go away and everything quiets down. But these here, they let us know that all of our fallen soldiers from whatever nation or whatever branch, that they're not forgotten," he said.

In all, 76 fallen troops were honored during Thursday's memorial.
