SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 27-year-old motorcyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries Friday and the motorist with whom he collided in San Diego's Hillcrest section was under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.

The two crashed at the intersection of Albatross and Washington streets around 8:45 p.m. Thursday, said San Diego police Officer David Stafford.

The motorcyclist was eastbound on Washington Street when a 25-year-old man driving 1999 Lexus pulled out in front of him from northbound Albatross Street, he said. The car and bike collided, and the rider was hospitalized with serious neck, chest and leg injuries, Stafford said.

The Lexus driver was arrested and booked on suspicion of felony DUI, Stafford said. His name was not immediately released.
