ENCINITAS (CNS) - A young man who was arrested on suspicion of stealing a motorcycle, then escaped from custody, was back behind bars Friday after being re-arrested in Encinitas, sheriff's officials said.

Isac Nachbar, 18, was taken back into custody about 6:05 p.m. Thursday, sheriff's Sgt. Todd Norton said. Sheriff's investigators and members of the Fugitive Task Force arrested him without incident him in the 100 block of Calle Magdalena, near Encinitas Boulevard, the sergeant said.

The events leading to Nachbar's re-arrest began shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday, when a patrol deputy spotted him pushing a motorcycle near the intersection of South Vulcan Avenue and Encinitas Boulevard, according to sheriff's officials. A motorcycle was reported stolen in the area, and the deputy took Nachbar into custody, officials said.

The suspect was initially taken to the Encinitas Sheriff's Station but complained of feeling sick and was then taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas, sheriff's officials said.

Nachbar asked to use the hospital's restroom, and a deputy escorted him. Afterward, the deputy attempted to handcuff him, but he broke free and ran from the emergency room, sheriff's officials said.

Sheriff's personnel and San Diego police searched the area by ground and from two law enforcement helicopters, officials said.
