Adult bookstore robbed at gunpoint in Kearny Mesa

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A gunman robbed an adult bookstore in Kearny Mesa Saturday morning, the second robbery at the business in as many months, police said.

The masked suspect entered Mercury Books at 7435 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. at 2:20 a.m. and demanded cash from employees, said San Diego police Officer David Stafford.

He fled with an undisclosed sum, heading in an unknown direction, Stafford said.

The man was described as black, 5 feet 8 inches tall with a muscular build. He wore a black mask and black jacket.

Last month, two masked men, one armed with a handgun and the other with a knife, struck the same business, taking two wallets and a purse from one customer and two employees, and cash from a register, San Diego police told U-T San Diego.
